After a few nice days in Ella it was (again) time for some beach tim. Next stop: Arugam Bay. It is one of the hot surf spots in the world.
Next to Arugam Bay is a little village called Panama. They say that you can see lots of crocodiles in the nature (no safari). And in fact, we saw a few of them laying in the sun – about 2m distance. Exciting!
As you can’t see the sunset on the ocean side, we woke up very early one day to see the sunrise. Stunning :)
All the fisherman came back from their ‘hunt’ early in the morning and also a lot of the surfers catched the first (and apparently best) waves.
Our second last destination was Mirissa. We spend a few wonderful and relaxing days there. We had a nice hotel and the beach there is just beautiful (unfortunately no pictures of the beach).
One highlight in Mirissa was to see the stilt fishers (the real ones). Really cool to see how they climb up to their stilts and stay there until they catched something.
At the end of our trip we went back to Colombo and had a nice end there. We went to a place where you can see the biggest Sri Lankan flag and hundreds or thousand of people enjoyed their free sunday there. Picnic, meeting friends and family and flying a kite. We also bought a kite and tried to get it as high as possible. It was really funny to see all the kites up in the air (sometimes really far away). A great way to end up our awesome trip through a stunning country!!
Lots of Love from Cape Town, Julia
Can you see the elephant (below) behind the rocks? :)
